CP GRADUATION 2013

Have We Done Them, and Will We Make Them?
By: Ronel L. Alijado
                 Good afternoon!

Let us reminisce the first day till the last day of schooling to finish the course. Of course, we made lots of things like attending and listening to class lectures, participating classroom and university activities, doing assignments and projects, answering quizzes and examinations, thinking of a way to pay the tuition fee, etc. For some they had to work, to go home or to school to check on their children, to meet their husband or wife, to solve family issues, etc. Then, we found ourselves sitting inside the classroom. In all these, we learned.

Now, we possess theoretical and practical ideas, good experiences, varied skills, and moral values as teachers. But the question is, “Is the learning we went through enough?” In my opinion, our understandings, performances, and attitudes, though are not perfect, are sufficient to face the challenges, the changes, and chances of life.
More importantly, life is not only about ourselves but also the kind of relationships we have with other people. I just hope that the memories we have shared at the college have been governed by sincerity, truthfulness, understanding, respect, love. Why do these values particularly the love for family and for neighbors have greater value in my heart? It is because material things pass away, but the love we show to people will be passed to others by those we love.
Even if life is tough, we don’t have to be rough. We are aware of competitions around us. Many are fighting for fame, power, and wealth. I am not implying that it is bad to become famous, powerful, and rich. However, we should put love in the middle, and we should not forget our brothers and sisters – the children that will be given to us to be our students – that will be jeopardized because of selfishness and greed. We just hope that we go beyond the money we earn. We should do our best for the best of our students.
Today we have reached the culmination of our course. This is the day of celebration of all we did! Later, as we receive our certificate of completion, a symbol of hardwork and commitment to teaching, we must absorb in our heart the mission and vision of a good teacher.
With that, I welcome the graduates, their families and friends, the teachers, and the dean to the Graduation Exercises of the Crash Programmers this 2013.

It's All About You

                                                     It’s All About You

Inspiration is more intrinsic than extrinsic. Good people and events can motivate a man to do his or her best and to work hardest to attain his or her goals in life. But men and experiences may hurt, may pull down, and may discourage in many instances. However, it is the inner passions – the confidence, the devotion, and the faith in himself or herself and in God – that keep him or her moving despite the huge blocks on the road and the black clouds that cover the light that hinder him or her to visualize the realities of his or her dreams. Optimistically, he or she never surrenders to any predicaments, any pains, any failures and any ugly things that this world shows. The internal fire intensifies as he or she is tested, for every challenge is like firewood that makes him or her stronger, better, and more positive that he or she can make things happen today or someday.

As every day begins and ends, he or she has enough strength to sustain him or her all through the difficult parts of the dramas of life. He or she learns to overcome his or her weaknesses and to gain new knowledge, wisdom, and skills. He or she becomes a firm believer that beautiful and great things can ensue if he or she puts sacrifice, hardwork, patience, discipline, and love on what he or she does. He or she trusts that he or she can be the best creature in his or her own ways after the hard and laborious processes of life’s metamorphosis.

Valentine's Day!!!!

Bridging the Gaps through Selfless Love
By Ronel L. Alijado

Happy Valentines to the students, to the teachers, to the school administrators, and to the spectators of this Junior-Senior Promenade!

February is the month and February 14 is the exact date that people celebrate love. It is a special occasion that has deep meanings to internalize, to appreciate, and to live in. It is a time to give value to one of the greatest blessings – love. It is a moment to give thanks to those people who have shared their love through their thoughts and sacrifices. It is an important event to remind others that people must not forget to love and to express love to their families, friends, neighbors, and others.

However, it is very saddening that human conditions that what people see on television, hear on radio, read on the newspapers, and witness in their daily experiences suggest that love is absent in many situations, and hatred, conflict, and war are taking place in the homes, in the communities, in the countries, and in the world in the largest scope. Revolutions, diseases, poor economic conditions, crimes, and moral degradation particularly among the youth are the gaps in humanity that need to be bridged. And the greatest solution to these human issues is selfless love.

Drug addiction, cigarette smoking, alcoholism, pornography, premarital sex, prostitution are some of the social issues that humanity is confronting.
Many persons do not value their lives by engaging in harmful lifestyles that result to other problems like mental disorders, cancer, sexual problems, sexually-transmitted diseases, and lack of values. A lot of people forget how precious life is, and they can become great contributions to the society and to the world. Instead, they are huge problems that the community and the nation are solving. These negative phenomenon waste human and financial resources. It is a waste of money! It is waste of potentials and opportunities that can make positive impacts on human lives.

The question is how do others who are not yet victims of these illegal and immoral acts can become the bridges to arrive at happiness, security, peace, and prosperity that all have long dreamed? People should start in their homes. Parents must view themselves as models of virtues that should be practiced in all activities. Children must follow what is right morally and legally. Homes must be havens of friendship, trust, peace, respect, morality, and love. How can a society have morality if homes do not have values? Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters must be moral, for values are linked to the expression of love.

To love means to respect the rights of others. People must not steal the properties of others, must not discriminate the women, the weak, the powerless, the poor, and the ill-deformed, must not deprive others of their hopes and ambitions, must not stop others to voice out their feelings and opinions as long as these are not dangerous, and must not kill. But we are aware of the violence that is happening inside and outside the country. Discriminations, rapes, and murders have been with the entire human race because of selfishness, greed, and evilness. Many victims of criminalities are buried with their dreams that are gone forever and with the tears and the pains of the loved ones that will eternally reminisce their deceased families and friends.

Friends, it is not yet late to make this world a peaceful, nice, and rich place to sojourn. In the communities, people must develop the sense of unity and of family. People must help one another in solving problems through open communication, right procedures, and legal and moral implementations of decisions and solutions to the issues that the community faces. Another way of making this world a good place to live is by creating projects and by pushing campaigns that promote orderliness, cleanliness, preservation, conservation, and development of natural resources, and peace. These are steps of showing what selfless love is.

In contrast, many government officials are in their offices for their personal interests. Hospitals, schools, and other government institutions lack funds to provide the basic needs and services of their people. A newly-born child with beautiful eyes that express great promises, with red soft lips that want to speak his great ideas, with a heart gently beating second by second, with healthy hands that can affectionately touch the hands of others, with good feet that want to run to reach his and others dreams, suddenly closes his eyes; his lips stop moving; his heart never beats anymore, and his hands and feet are cold. He could have been saved by just an oxygen equipment. But it is used by the corrupt officials to buy a house and lot, a car, a new gadget, or a ticket for a travel abroad. Do these leaders people call are truly public servants? Or they are public users? The children, the old, the sick die everyday.

This twentieth century, diseases are difficult foes of humans. For example AIDS has killed millions of people already in Africa and in other parts of the world. Until today cure has not yet been discovered. Only prevention is the method to avoid its acquisition. Cancer of various types, mental ailments, and emotional disorders are killing people all over the world. People who have the capacities and resources should assist the victims of diseases. They should give. They should alleviate their struggles. They should be lights that bestow inspiration that each day is a blessing and a miracle can happen.

Every person can be a blessing and a miracle to others. When we share ourselves with others by donating food and money with the needy, by providing shelter to the homeless, by being a family to those who don’t have loved ones, by showing care and love to the sick, and by respecting people are means of showing selfless love.

In the homes, schools, workplaces, and communities, we must place “selfless love” in the center of all. Though the bridges are difficult to construct to leave the land of poverty, disease, immorality, hopelessness, violence, and darkness and to reach the paradise of our fulfilled dreams, people who work hand in hand can make it happen. It can happen with the graces of God and  with selfless love, the great material in bridging the gaps. Oh, Selfless love! Where art Thou? Where art Thou? Where art Thou?

Thank you for the invitation! Enjoy the occasion! God bless you all! Happy Hearts Day!

 Extension Activity

My colleagues and I went to an elementary public school for an extension activity - teaching pupils. The topic of the day was subject-verb agreement. They listened, responded to my questions, asked me, and got good and perfect scores in the quiz. I think I did my best. Indeed, it was fun and educational!

Thank you, Jesus, my God!!!!
